5-Minute Beauty Confessions with Lizzy Mabena

This week we speak to #WonderfulWoman Lizzy Mabena.

Today she shares her 5-Minute Beauty Confessions with The Beauty Studio Team.

1.What does beauty mean to you?

Beauty is commonly described as a feature of objects that makes these objects pleasurable to perceive. However beauty to me means being able to wear your confidence in physical form. Even though aesthetic is the main subject of beauty, beauty must always come within and reflect outwards.

2.What’s one of the best beauty products you’ve ever used and why?

I must say I have been religiously loyal to Estee Lauder products. I have been using the range for a few years now and it works very well for my skin, given the harsh environment of working out doors in the sun all day long. I am particularly excited about the foundation which has SPF to protect my skin from UV damages.

3.How has COVID and lockdown affected your beauty regime ?

Prior to Covid I was keeping a scheduled skin route, by attending facials to reverse damaged skin. However with the lockdown and Beauty Salons deemed not essential services, it was impossible to continue the skin care regime. So I had to find alternative ways to treat my skin using home remedies.

4.What’s your biggest strength?

That is always a difficult question to answer, but I would confidently say some of my strengths include: self motivation, detail oriented, problem solving and determination.

5.What’s a cause that is important to you?

A cause that is important to me would definitely be community development. Especially during this time period where the world and South Africa is experiencing so much from the effects of Covid and hard lockdown. The desire to increase the level of social and economical development, through community participation should be high priority on governments agenda.

6.What are the 3 things you can’t live without?

Definitely my phone, my sunglasses and lipstick

7.How would you define yourself in three words?

Dreamer, motivated and not bothered.

8.What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?

If you learn something of value that benefits you. You have a moral obligation to teach the next person.

9.What’s the last bit of self-care you performed?

Sat in a Luke warm bath filled with lavender essential oils and course salt.

10.What does a successful 2023 look like to you?

Being able to achieve goals that I have set for myself.
